Flapfit — Privacy Policy
Last updated 21 October 2026
Flapfit is a camera fitness game. The camera is how you play it, so this policy is mostly about the camera — what it watches, what is kept, and what leaves your phone.
The short version
- The app never asks for your name, your email, or an account. There is no sign-up. The one place we ask for an email is the iPhone waitlist on our website, and only if you choose to join it.
- The camera is processed on your phone. Pose detection runs on the device. No live video is streamed anywhere.
- Your clips stay on your phone unless you choose to share one or put one forward to be featured.
- Anonymous product events about how the app is used are sent automatically — which screens you open, when a set starts and finishes, and what happens on the subscription screen. They record that you did a set and which game it was, never how many reps, how long, or how well. Nothing about your body and nothing from your videos is in them.
The camera
While you play, the camera feed is read by an on-device pose model (Google ML Kit) that works out where your joints are so the game can count your reps. The video and the pose data are processed on your phone and are not sent anywhere.
The app also records your screen while a game is running, which produces the clip of your set. That recording includes the camera picture, because the camera picture is what is on the screen. The clip is written to your phone's storage and stays there. It is yours: you can watch it, share it, or delete it from the app's Workouts screen.
What is kept on your phone
Your streak, your bests, your session history, your settings and your clips are stored on the device. Uninstalling the app removes them.
What leaves your phone
| What | When | What is in it |
|---|---|---|
| Product events | Automatically, in the background | A short, fixed list of events: the app was opened; onboarding was finished or skipped; a game was tapped; a set started; a set finished; the camera was refused; a screen was opened; a clip was watched, shared, or put forward to be featured; and what happens on the subscription screen — that it was shown, that a plan was tapped, that it was closed, that a locked game was tapped, that the daily free set was used. Each carries an anonymous id, the event name, a timestamp, the app version, and at most a game name, a product id, or which screen. No rep counts, no scores, no times, no video, no pose data, no measurements, no name. |
| Crash reports | When the app crashes | Firebase Crashlytics: the error, where in the code it happened, and the device model and Android version. |
| A session, with its data file and optionally its video | Only when you press “Send this session” | A diagnostic file of the run and, if you tick the box, the video. You may also type a name so we know whose session it is. Pressing send is the consent; nothing is sent before you do. |
| A clip you put forward to be featured | Only when you opt in and submit one | The video, your score, your streak, and the anonymous id. A person watches it before it is shown to anyone. It runs for 14 days, then it comes down and the file is deleted. You can withdraw it at any time from inside the app. |
| Purchases | If you subscribe | Handled by Google Play and by RevenueCat, who tell us whether a subscription is active. We never see your card. |
The iPhone waitlist (our website)
If you join the iPhone waitlist on flapfit.com, we keep the email address you type, the date you joined, and that you agreed to be emailed. It is stored in our Firebase database (Google Cloud) and nowhere else.
We use it for one thing: to email you when Flapfit is on the App Store, with your founding-member offer. No newsletter, no sharing, no selling. The form sets no cookies and loads no tracking.
To be taken off the list, write to us at the address below and we delete your email. We delete the whole list within six months of the iPhone launch.
The anonymous id
When something is sent, the app signs in to Firebase anonymously. That produces a random id for your phone. It is not linked to a name, an email or a Google account, and we cannot use it to identify you.
Children
Flapfit is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If a child plays on your phone, everything above still applies: the camera stays on the device and the clips stay on the phone.
Who else is involved

- Google ML Kit — pose detection, entirely on your phone.
- RevenueCat — subscription status, if you subscribe.
- Google Play — payment, if you subscribe.
Your choices
- Delete a clip — Workouts, press and hold a video.
- Withdraw a featured clip — the Featured screen, any time, and it works offline.
- Stop sending sessions — simply do not press send.
- Remove everything — uninstall the app. To have anything already sent deleted, write to us at the address below and say so.
